All About Magpie
Magpie™ sparked to life in 2003 when designer Maggie Stephens began making colorful, fun flower pins and hair clips out of felt and vintage buttons. When friends, strangers and shop owners kept trying to buy the pins she was wearing, Maggie knew she was onto something good.

Magpie took off at stores in Maggie's hometown of Austin, Texas, and the line was quickly picked up nationally by high-end boutiques including Henri Bendel and Olive & Bette's. Buyers went crazy for the handmade pins and hair clips, and customers loved the fact that no two pieces were the same.

The line and the company have grown each season, expanding from fabric jewelry to include scarves, headbands and more. A March 2003 mention in the e-newsletter Daily Candy helped boost sales and more than doubled distribution, leading to the addition of stores in London, Beirut and Dubai.

Magpie accessories have been seen in the pages of InStyle, O! Magazine, Glamour, Teen Vogue, Redbook, Us Weekly, American Baby, WWD, The Washington Post and The Dallas Morning News and have been featured on the Today show.

In 2005, Magpie debuted the Magpie Outfit — protective case for the Apple iPod® nano. Cases for other iPods are set to follow soon.

"Our mission is to create fun, lovely things that make people happy," Maggie says. "With each of our products, whether it's a cashmere scarf or an iPod case, we want you to smile every time you see it. That's what Magpie is all about."
